When I connect my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro, iTunes "freezes": the spinning beachball appears, and it will not respond to any mouse clicks or key presses. Activity Monitor shows iTunes as "Not Responding".
The iPhone indicates that it is being charged...

I also had the same problem with iTunes hanging on me, and indeed, iTunes....
After I let it sit with iPhone connected and iTunes frozen for about twenty minutes, iTunes finally, or if other users have similar problems to discuss.

I've read a lot of posts, tried a number of suggestions, and even lost 1.5 hours of my life at the Genius Bar in an Apple store all with no resolution to my problems. Here they are:

I've tried a few times over the past few days to have Genius scan my library, however, it consistently freezes part way through the scan. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, does anyone know how to fix it? It doesn't matter if I'm not playing any...

I should've asked this long ago to see if anyone else had similar experiences, but wasn't sure if anything could be done or looked into without taking the iMac into an Apple store for investigation. I'm hoping someone has an idea I haven't tried that ...

If all is quiet in the house when it occurs, I hear lately .
I have never really been able to narrow it down, but itunes is always downloading when, but itunes is always downloading when it happens.

My music files are all on my external drive. I completely uninstalled iTunes (all iTunes files per directions), reinstalled a version 9 of iTunes, and directed iTunes to incorporate my music files. The music shows up in iTunes, but I cannot do anything...

I have a quad core 2.8ghz cpu and 8gb memory. When I try to copy a CD the program copies the cd ok but when I try to burn it it freezes the PC and the only way to get it working again is by rebooting. Any ideas on what...

I can burn CD without issue using itunes.
Any ideas on what is causing this and how to resolve it .
To burn it it freezes the PC and the only way to get it working again is by rebooting.

Dunno why but since a few days ago my iTunes has been acting weirdly... tried repairing and uninstalling and reinstalling but all it does is freeze.... When it doesn't freeze and I try to connect my iPhone it freezes the loading bar at the start for ages...

I've had similar problems, usually when itunes tries to do too much at the same time (such as check for updates, whilst in the background....
I've been seeing people having the same issues lately no clue why? personally i don't use itunes...

Does anyone know what this means? Maybe new thermal grease? At stock clocks it's doing this. Every now and then it freezes my system completely, but usually the screen just goes black and I can ctrl+alt+del and end the process. Only game I play is BF3...

That for a few hours, do the freezes still happen? What you describe sounds very much like a failing HDD, and I'd be willing to bet that if you paid closer attention, you'd notice that the freezes from the clone appeared to resolve the ....
