I would like to upgrade some of the music I purchased on iTunes a few years ago to be DRM free.
I'm even prepared to do this the legal way, but when I go to the app store there is no link in the Quick Links to Upgrade my library.
Also none of the music...

So, when you do purchase a song that is DRM free, you will see the "Upgrade My Library" link in iTunes..
So songs on iTunes.
This is where you upgrade.
When I log in, on the right side of the itms, it says itunes plus.

Are you sure such a thing is part of iTunes/OS X and not a third-party add-on?
I can't see any control in iTunes to do that, and there isn't a menulet in the usual menulet folder.

Before doing iTunes Match, I had album art for every song/album on my iPhone. Now all the albums in iTunes have album art, but about 20% of my albums in my iPhone Music App are missing the art (grey background w/ the music symbol). Anybody else having...

none work You might need to move them back where they were, then have itunes....

I read an article about iTunes Match in MacWorld and they said it was
possible to "upgrade" your tunes to 256 kbps. My CD downloads are
already 1411 (although I made the error of storing the early ones as aif
instead of m4a) and I have some 96/24 stuff...

iTunes supports embedded art in the music files, and separately stored artwork maintained by iTunes itself....
GimmeSomeTune can help with missing artwork and it is free.

Each time I upgrade iTunes a small selection of songs go missing. i.e. they are not found by iTunes and the file itself is no longer in the folder on the hard-disk.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to this, the files are mp3s and m4vs, both...
