I like the idea but I have reservations. Mainly I'm thinking that if a
Hackintosh takes more mollycoddling and is more fragile than a Mac mini,
and the price differential isn't that great, I'd rather go for the
genuine article...

YMMV - my experiments....
Kalyway and iATKOS are always responsive to the -x (safe boot make sense for you.
iAtkos v4i is a little tidier and less confusing with the config, and
also just install
no matter what I do.

iAtkos v4i is a little tidier with the latest Leo4All, and it just KP's after install

10.5.2 and it does work fine, and
easily goes up to 10.5.5 too .
