I HATE paying for someone else to freeze water for me .
Baking pans, cake pans.
Or a big bowl and smash it after it freezes to make smaller ice.

A couple of ice cream works much better if you use solid blocks....
Agree with the Pre chill idea.

Ice will only last depending whether it's block or bag and how up for.
I have 2 from them and they are ok.

In hospitals, people who are debilitated enough that they can't eat or drink anything else are often put on a "sips and chips" diet, which is just ice chips and sips of fluid, usually as a supplement....
Tube, there's no reason not to eat ice.
