Did illness or accident set your P it off?
A friend of mine believes she got psoriasis after an outbreak of chicken pox also. I got mine when i was about 13 or 14 - I don't remember exactly. I'm also not sure what triggered it, but now stress heavily affects it within hours, so does many things though like heat and wind etc.

Inform work about chronic illness?
It's not an obvious type of thing, but a condition that will remain and require medication for life and is difficult to regulate, therefore there will be good times and bad... But it is affecting my performance, and I'm finding it harder and harder to cope with the workload, and even to find the energy to interact effectively with my colleagues, and I know that it will be noticed sooner rather than later, if not already.
I'm hesitating because what I did mention this to the manager of the project I was on at the time I was diagnosed, to be met with ''oh ya, my mother has that'' and I was then cut off short. My direct manager has very little to do with my day-to-day work, and I can't see any huge benefit in telling him either. I also want to avoid a situation where I am by-passed for certain projects or responsibilities as a result, but then, if I don't let anyone know why I'm coping less well than I used to, that it may be interpreted as just having a bad attitude.

What happens if a surgeon becomes ill in the middle of surgery?
I was told at Duke that recently one of the surgeons was being hospitalized for a diverticulitis flare and had a perc drain placed. While an inpatient, he went down to the OR and operated on one of his patients who needed a colectomy for diverticulitis.

When can you speak ill of the dead?
While I do agree with the general consensus to a certain extent, I will say that the feelings of those who may be grieving should be considered. Not that that necessarily trumps everything, but if there's no good reason to say something negative, and it would potentially hurt a grieving person, it shouldn't be said.
