I have a Sony Vaio laptop running Vista 32-bit. I'd like to get it to a clean installation of Vista for the purposes of selling it (i.e. rid it of any data). I do not have a Windows installation disc (thanks, Sony!), and the computer does not have a recovery...

don't blame Sony, you went and bought this computer without....
You may be better off they want.
There is no way to get a "clean" installation without wiping and reinstalling Windows.

Upgrade and patch is the easiest way to do it, but I've sometimes had a lot of... .
However, it also means wasting a lot of time reconfiguring everything and making them work like before .
Doing a fresh install usually gives you the best performance.

Why does Chrome always get installed in C drive. It never provides us with an option to change the installation path.
Also, if I do one installation of Chrome, does it ensure that all users of the PC have access to Chrome? I do not think so...can someone...

When I try to install Vista SP2, it fails and gives me the error:
error_smi_primitive_installer_failed(0x8007371c)
It happens if I try it through Windows Update or with the standalone installation.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

I have installed many packages from modified source, and have created two essential users under /usr directory. I want to know, how can I create a install DVD...

Nonetheless, I currently tarball my UNIX installation balls.

I made a stupid mistake by running a Linux installation (OpenSuse) over my XP Installation. Now I want to know if it possible to restore files from the previous XP installation somehow (Outlook Express especially).
