I'm pretty sure medical insurance was introduced before dental insurance was, and employers routinely offered medical coverage to employees, but not necessarily that in with medical ....
I think the reason is historical.

I have had IMSS for 4 years and am aware of the problems with the Chapala Clinic. I was wondering if members of this forum have private medical in addition to IMSS such as Alianz which covers major medical. Your thoughts...

I just heard back from my doctor. They were checking on insurance for a hysterectomy for me.
My deductible is 1195.00. They told me that my portion, to them, would be $379.00. I don't understand. Am I not responsible for the $1195.00 before hand?

It really depends on your policy - I would suggest you call your insurance for the charges....
I asked.
They have medical insurance thru their employer, but if a major surgery or illness doctors charges.
They are under-insured.
