I'm currently on 6.77% (after the rba reduction) variable with a relatively small loan.
my bank has just dropped fixed rates to:
1yr - 6.09%
2 or 3 yr - 5.99%
5 yr - 6.69%
I'm considering a one, two or three year fix. what do you think?

The fact that they now
offer a fixed 3 year rate rate....
They are trying hard but was trying to get interest on your 250k in tha bank.
At a lower rate than the 1 year fixed says they think interest rates will go down .

It occurs to me, this may be appropriate for the finance forum, but why is it that interest rates and bond rates are inversely related?
A bond is presumably a risk free instrument, and an interest rate could really apply to just about anything, but would...

A bond with no probability of default.
Interest rates (implied by the new bonds) went up, old bond prices went down.

Once again, Republicans show us who they work for. Their hatred of this president and his landmark health care law seeps from their pores. They would rather gut preventive health care funds (part of the ACA) than ask a small percentage of wealthy people...
