For those of you that don't know, there's less than seldom advertised unlimited tethering plan available for people that are grandfathered in on an unlimited data plan and who upgrade to a 4G phone. It's an extra $30 a month, which I have no issue paying...

You are referring to a technology called deep packet inspection and Verizon is chomping technology that Verizon wants because they really want to provide their own net.

I'm not familiar with your Toktumi app but if its a Voip application I'd test it on Hughes because Voip is problematic....
There are still holes in the Verizon coverage map and always connection.
Anywhere, then HughesNet is the answer.
