I have a SearchController with an action that can execute some long running searches and return a results page. The searches can take anywhere from 1 to 60 seconds. The URL for a search is an HTTP GET request of the form: http://localhost/Search?my=query...

You could do it the following way:
do the search request (the GET url) with AJAX the search url doesn't return the results, but returns some Json or XML content with the URL of the actual results the client page shows a "loading..." message while waiting... .

Like most major flash arcade sites, I have interstitial ads that cover the games while they're loading. Is it against adsense TOS to do this? The interstitial lasts for 10 seconds.

It is often used in long running requests to prevent the web server from timing out the request .
I believe the vast majority of interstitial pages are there to run advertising.

Is there a way to keep the "Loading..." graphic from appearing when cfdiv refreshes? I'd like to prevent the flicker of loading the graphic then loading the new html.

You can rename or delete the image, which is located... .
If you really want to get rid of that "Loading..." message and the image, there are a couple places you can look .
I don't think there is currently a way to do this programmatically within the cfdiv tag .

Use 1 Line Item to "activate" the interstitial ad.
It sounds like they want you to: 1.

The video ads have been around for a few weeks .
But I haven't been on YouTube for a few days .
Only the little text ads that pop up about 10 seconds into the video and get in the way of everything .
