I think the difference of flac vs mp3 at high bitrate is often hard to pinpoint with careful listening ipod to increase sound....
For low bitrates (below 128 kps) , but at high bitrates aac vs mp3 doesn't make much changes.

With wma i think itunes or you have to convert the files to put them onto an ipod.
Go with mp3 as its less hassle.
