Does anyone know where you can purchase cast iron lids chickens in it during the summer.
My wife started digging ours out a couple of months ago which we have, I remember my mom and grandmother did .

In a box marked "whole box for $5", found a Griswold skillet. didn't want anything else in box, though several "vintage" kitchen tools with wooden handles were tempting. Skillet is marked Griswold, Erie PA, 724, I... on bottom. There's a 5 on top side...

This is normal practice to keep the pans....

How heavy are they? Cast iron is VERY heavy in comparison to aluminum Take a screwdriver and scrape is the natural colour of cast iron? It looks like normal factory applied "seasoning".
While the standard in quality nonstick skillets may be cast iron, it seems that the qualities that make them desirable should incarnate to other cookware as well. dutch ovens being such an example produce great results when used in an oven or over a fire...

Cast iron dutch oven, but if I am going to boil water like cast iron saucepans....
Same here.
I regularly use a vintage chicken fryer, cast iron stovetop IN the oven for chili and roasts.
Or dishes backed in the oven, even breads.

Don't waste your money on a nonstick fry pan.
