Hello all,
I'm looking for some places of interest, tips or advice for using the Japanese Rail Pass. I've been to Japan a number of times, but mostly around the Tokyo basin and a little in Hokkaido for skiing.
This time, I'm hoping to get a 7 day rail...

On a probably unrelated topic..your time in Kanazawa is very little... .
Kyoto to Yasugi goes via Okayama, so not sure why you return to Kyoto if you go next day to Okayama anyway .
Yes, a 7 day railpass used for the last portion of your trip should make sense .

If not, you can get it all done at Shinagawa Station .
I'm not too sure but you might be able to get your tickets at Haneda Airport when you exchange your pass .
Yes, the nearest Shinkansen station is at Shinagawa.

If you want....
You do have to travel a lot, but a few minutes is usually okay .
Using them effectively would mean that you, the JR Pass may not be the most cost effective way around Japan.
The JR rail passes are expensive and time compressed,.
