What I've heard/read was that you can use the same glucosamine supplement that humans use of arthritis: they can can actually contribute to additional joint damage and breakdown.

But if you have a horse that has issues, I would go with an injectable joint medicine...adequan.
It has everything you could possibly want in a joint supplement and, in my opinion.
On Acti-Flex 4000.
