Have you checked Joomla 1.6 required server environments?
PHP 5.2....
Its problem may be in .htaccess
or your server set-up.
But, you have done this already.
That will remove index.php.
Set Yes to URL rewriting.
There!

Just tried the new Elastica template same issues ....
So once get it then no need to make the changes on it .
