I went to Jordan in 2006.
I plan to travel from Israel to Jordan via Eilat/Arava crossing, go see Petra, et. al. But then take the ferry from Aqaba toNuweiba, Egypt. Here is my question-do I have to go back on the ferry or can I get back to Israel via Taba/Eilat crossing in Egypt...

Obviously, this applies to those traveling on passports.
Passport (obviously this is the case here), then it is always cheaper, faster and recommended to travel overland between Egypt and Jordan via Israel.

I actually went in twice, earlyYour plan regarding Petra is very rushed, but can be done.
Keep in mind the travel time to Petra.

From Amman hire a private car/driver (cost around $ 50 travel shop in Syria Considering your itinerary, I would still favour the Jordanian side, Actually its perfectly safe from Jordan....
It is better to visit Dead Sea from Jordan side.
