Hi there
Posting from Bonnie Scotland.
I have a Honda HR173 mower, the starter cord has just snapped. There are plenty of videos on the net with details of replacing cords on other mowers. None of them seem to be right for mine which does not allow access...

I have a Murray lawn tractor with a Briggs and stratton engine. When I turn the ignition, the starter gear spins, but does not engage the flywheel to start the engine. Do I need a new starter, or is it something else.
Thanks

Start engine and fog the mosquitoes for....
Clean spark plug, check oil level in engine.
Remove the spark plug and crank engine and watch the oil spray about 10 feet, repeat until no more spray .
Oil doesn't compress.
The oil has ran down into the cylinder.

Our first Flymo, with a metal blade, lasted for ages, maybe more than 10 years, but its replacement has proved to be less durable, certainly less than 5 years.
