Spend more time planning the structure before you shade.
I'll take a look at creating a similar still life using the middle-beige/tan sheet I bought applies to still life, you know.

I changed the relative spacing in the still life, and added the plate from the "pearlescent" one to balance the negative space behind the elements. It also produced a better flow for the eye. Digitally painted in style of Oils on Canvas. Orig working ...
