Noisy lifters EA82 Anyone found a reliable way to quieten down noisy lifters especially in an EA82 engine.
I am using Penrite 20W-50 Everyday driving oil.

Apparently I have a noisy cam or lifter. I am getting a rattle / clunk from under the rocker cover. I was advised by the garage to put some revive or oil reviver in with the oil and run it for about 3K and see if it cures it.
Anyone else heard of this...

If anything for the 'Fortifier' as I've never heard of it A thinner fully synth may help the lifter fill better from cold.
I tried some on my car, when I had a noisy lifter.
Engine Flush's with a pinch of salt tbh.

Back to top I had extremely noisy lifters, I ran nylon lifter free, awesome and as stated the nylon lifter free!
Works well if that fails, buy some lifters from SR-NRG and have them replaced!

I live in south Florida and my lifters did the same thing on warm and cold start ups.
Very interesting.i also use the mobil 1 filter and have a small amount of lifter noise.will have with it.

The individual components of a hydraulic lifter are....
The lifter and the cam lobe it rides wear in to each other, so a new lifter will very likely wipe out an old lobe.
It is something that isnt going to hurt the jeep so live with it .

Right now O'Rielly's and autozone have specials on Mobile 1 .
I change it at every 3000-3500 miles and never have had to add oil .
I run Mobil 1 0W-40 synthetic oil and have 171-k miles .

Hello, I put a new hydraulic cam and anti-pump up lifters in my 454. I was told to set the preload on the lifters at .020. The car runs well but the lifters are very noisy, is this common for these type of lifters? Is there a better way to adjust them...

I think it has a lot to do with cam profile... .
The anti-pump up lifters I have used wanted a .002-.003 preload and usually weren't noisy.
If they are a variable duration type lifter like a rhodes they probably will make some noise...

A good quality hydraulic lifter? i hear you about this cam being noisy but it really is only 3 or 4 it is a bit noisy..I use this for a work truck and usually put 10-15k miles a year on it...All the comp HE and magnum cams i have....
