No way around Lipitor with these numbers?
Your numbers are within the range that some people are able to improve with lifestyle changes alone, so I applaud your decision to try to do so. IMHO some doctors are way too quick about recommending a statin. Your trigs lead me to suspect that you might be eating more carbs than desirable. If that is the case, I'd cut way back on sugars and white flour products like breads, crackers and pasta, as well as white rice first. source
Lower back pain and Lipitor?
Side affects of Lipitor include abdominal pain, back pain, changes in eye sight, diarrhea, cold, constipation, dry eyes, dry skin, flu symptoms, gas, hair loss, headaches, heartburn, indegestion, inflammation of sinus and nasal passages, itching, joint pain, leg cramps, muscles aching or weakness, purple or red spots on skin, rash, sore throat, urinary problems, vomiting and weakness. I would not play around I would contact my doctor immediately. source
Are All Statins Have equal Side Effects?
My father first started on Pravachol, and didn't appear to have any problems with it. His blood tests, while he was taking it, were very good. But, for some strange reason, the doctor switched him over to Zocor, and I still don't understand why. Well, that's when all the trouble seemed to start. His foot now bothers him so much that he can't even go for a walk. He used to love to go for walks, and I can see now that he is very miserable because of this. It really bothers me a lot, because the two of us used to enjoy going for walks together. But now, sadly, he seems to have aged twenty years practically overnight. All I can say is that I'll never, EVER take any of this garbage. I love him, and it hurts me so much to see him this way. source
Anyone know of some Natural Remedies?
Search for articles by Dr Dean Hornish in recent on line and print publications. He is a big proponent of both low fat and vegetarian diet and natural remedies like red yeast rice, pantethine, beta sitosterol and others. source
Anyone Go The Natural Way?
Some on this board suggested pectin which you can purchase at healthfood store, I have started taking cholest-off which i purchased at Wal Mart. I also use Take control spread and eat high fiber low fat. source
