$5000 loan would only be around $50 per to buy a house, but for such a small loan most banks and credit unions will not give you a loan you really understand the terms and conditions....
Its a good start to getting a credit rating.

I do think there is a place for payday loan lenders as it stops people visiting their local unregulated....
Once you get your money you can start thinking about settlements into 15k+ debt like many of us on here .

The federal government will probably not give a loan, but a private bank may if you can present a good case as the loan source doesn't depend....
It will depend on what type of loan it was that you co-signed for and is now in default.
