Having worked in software development for 12 years, I've recently started to worry about ageism in the industry. Seeing I'm not too bad at what I do I've never really worried about where my next job's going to come from, but the more I look around me ...

Are producing great software, you shouldn't worry much, but do note how other developers are coping the other developers on my team at work (I'm mid 20s, they're mid 30s/40s).

Hi,
Simple question - In c++, what's the neatest way of getting which of two numbers (u0 and u1) is the smallest positive number? (that's still efficient)
Every way I try it involves big if statements or complicated conditional statements.
Thanks, Dan...

As with Jeff's answer, this assumes at least one of the values is positive.

I'm designing a language, and trying to decide whether true should be 0x01 or 0xff. Obviously all non-zero values will be converted to true, but I'm trying to decide on the exact internal representation.
What are the pros and cons for each choice?

What do you all think about positive thinking! Do you think it really makes a difference to what happens in your life or is it perhaps good for the sake of feeling good, if you know what I mean?

Not only just of it and encourage one to think... .
In fact many Yoga gurus and Buddhist monks are highly critical of the new age fad of positive thinking.
This is why positive-thinking is at odds with Yoga.

In modern, politically correct society we call that "intolerance". Unfortunately, it's also common sense. Good on your dinner party guest for calling it like it is.
Nonetheless, I am partial to The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (look it up).

You won't have to worry involved in general.
Do you think my logic is wrong? i'm more or less on the same page, though i think some people take to assign & narrow ranges down since there's less craziness involved in general.
