People didn't realize that "Mac" was an abbreviation....
Remember" in all caps, as it is an acronym so they figured that "Mac" must be one, too.
Maybe because MAC addresses were known before Apple Mac begin to be so powerful and known.

Hi All, I am new to MAC environment. Is there any way that I can convert classic MAC app file so that it can be read on MAC OS X? Also, is there any good tutorial for how to write .app file for a JAVA application. Thanks

If you search for classic mode you can find some .
Whether or not anything on OS X will be able to open your file depends ( runs older mac software was dropped with 10.5).
Mac is not an acronym.

What is the easiest and safest way to transfer all Quicken files from one Mac to another Mac that already has Quicken on it? Firewire and target disk work?

1 - Mac OS X attempts to keep resource forks around by making a separate file.
The Finder, and your standard cp , mv , rsync on Mac OS X 10.4 and higher do support resource forks thankfully.

Is it possible to build a .dmg file (for distributing apps) from a non-Mac platform? And if yes, how?

Why not simply use that same Mac to create the disk image?
[Edit] Alternatively, if you're distributing a portable image, but not have a Mac....
If you're distributing Mac apps, then surely you have a Mac to write and test them.

Use the Mac OS X 10.3 SDK if you want your program to run on Panther.
It's no surprise it's not working with earlier versions.
The Mac OS X 10.5 SDK targets the Mac OS X system version 10.5.

I'm a Macbook Pro user. I like Apple products in general, but I hate their keyboards.
I work on my computer/laptop 10+ hours a day, so I would like to have a keyboard that is Mac-compatible and ergonomic.
I found this one on Amazon. It is specifically...

The only difference is that the Windows key becomes the Command key, Alt becomes Option and are reversed from the Mac standard the Matias Tactile Pro series of keyboards.
Any keyboard (for the most part) will work in a Mac thats USB.

If you dont have an iphone, then you would just use the simulator for all your testing choice: http://stackoverflow... .
Just make sure it is an intel mac.
(mini, imac).
A used cheap intel mac is the way to go to get started.

I'd like to have a Software Update Server (SUS) for my clients.
Since this service would not be critical, redundancy and availability are not an issue for me.
