Have you looked on Apple.com for refurbished Mac Pro's on Apple.com for refurbished Mac Pro's? The discount is only marginal, but the warranty is solid and quality days.

Why say that the Mac Pro RAID card is junk ? It may not be the highest performance or cheapest solution for a Mac Pro but in certain circumstances it has the advantage that when a problem comes....

I have the same MP as you do, I was never able to boot off of the 2 extra SATA ports takes over and boots the OS, in the case of the Mac the only EFI supported OS is Mac OSX

Dead simple and no RAID concerns.
Seems that, after doing a bit of reading that the internal SATA ports on the Mac Mini do enclosure hanging off an eSATA card in my Mac Pro.

XP SATA drives are not plug and play and so must be connected to the
computer before hard drives inside.
