My question is about the use of 1 1/4" Khaya for replanking the bottom of this boat. How does it work compared to red mahogany. I would like to here from someone who has planked with this heavy of Khaya (african mahogany). Thanks, Captain Frank

Or are you comparing it to 'Phillipine Mahogany.
African Mahogany' to 'true' mahogany - Swietenia macrophylla - aka 'Honduran Mahogany' (which is what my mind leaps to when you say 'red mahogany')...

Thinking about mahogany-bodied dreads, and looking at the Martin D-18, Gibson Hummingbird or a Larrivee D-03. Any opinions?

I have a aluminum placing peel from GI Metal but I never use it, because I have a beautiful peel made by Bill (wheelman), out of mahogany, and it smooth as silk placing pizzas. I am hoping it continues to darken over the years.
Thank you Bill!
