[candidasupport] Re: Spring Water versus Brita Filtered Water

On Mon, 11 May 2009 08:43:21 -0700 (PDT), Lisa Whitmore <...@yahoo.com

"Lisa, last fall I used to order Zephyrhills water delivery, big jugs
and small bottles. Then I saw a chiropractor who told me that
Zephyrhills aquifer (source of the water) is located over or next to a
nuclear power plant, likely causing radiation of the water. Because of
that, he quit using Zephyrhills water and does not recommend it to his
patients any more. I quit using it (except for occasional convenience
when going out) and use a Brita water filter now. I don't have other
confirmation that this is true about the Zephyhills water, but I would
like to know!"

Hi Janice,

Utt ohh...I was sure Zephyrhill was from a natural spring, but your information certainly changes how I feel about the integrity of that spring.  I've been drinking it exclusively since I began treating my interstitial cystitis in 2003.  I'm learning that toxins are everywhere, but I never thought they might be in my Zephyrhills.

What water do you drink?  I would buy Figi bottled water, but it's so expensive.

Thanks for the heads up!
Lisa

I live in the US and the water here has loads of toxins in it, like arsenic,
uranium, estrogen, and many other prescription drugs etc, the list is long (a
brita filter would not be able to get those dissolved particles out.

Would it be ok if I just added more drops of trace minerals, or do you
think that using the reverse osmosis will seriously threaten my progress?

Lisa

I've been using reverse osmosis for a while (lugging the jugs to and from the store...ugh), partly because it doesn't have fluoride in it. I don't want fluoride because it's bad for the thyroid, and I have hypothyroidism. Plus fluoride is evidently bad in other ways. So... the Brita (or something similar, like the Pur filter) wouldn't remove fluoride, right? Does Brita (and Pur) remove chlorine?

This one looks pretty good (it's 10-stage and seems to remove a lot of nasties), and I think it says that the filter doesn't have to be replaced too often (cost of filters should be factored in when deciding which filtration system to get):
http://www.amazon.com/Premium-10-Stage-Filter-New-Wave/dp/B0007KKIKK/ref=sr_1_3 ?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1242088731&sr=8-3

If you all think that a Brita (or Pur) would be just as good as the one above, or as good as a (more expensive) reverse osmosis system, then I'll go with that. (I read somewhere here that reverse osmosis is not advisable because it removes too many minerals, which makes sense...but still I'm wondering how I can retain the good minerals and ditch the chlorine, fluoride, etc...and not have to spend a fortune on a filtration system in the process!) I'm eager to not have to keep hauling the jugs to and from the store!

Lisa, the spring may be natural, but the location at a nuclear plant sounds bad. (Bee, Zephyrhills is a city in Florida where the spring is located. Actually, Nestle Corporation owns it now.) Can anyone confirm this about Zephyrhills? I drink mostly Brita-filtered tap water now. I use bottled spring water occasionally -- like store brand at Whole Foods. The label says it is bottled at the source in TN.
