RFS: ruby-rc4

On Sat, 28 Jan 2012 23:45:14 +0100, Cédric Boutillier <...@gmail.com

Hi!

I pushed to the repository the packaging for ruby-rc4. It is a runtime
dependency for a new version of ruby-pdf-reader. It is lintian clean and
builds fine in a chroot.

Could you please review and possibly upload this package?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Cédric

debian/copyright: I don't think the copyright you specified is correct.
If you look at README.md, under "Notes" the current maintainer explains
the history of the project, so I guess those people should be listed as
copyright holders together with him.

Hi Antonio,

Thanks for the review. I was relying on the LICENSE file in the upstream
repository, mentionning only copyright to Caige Nichols.
https://github.com/caiges/Ruby-RC4/blob/master/LICENSE

This might be a naive question, but are all contributors supposed to be
copyright holders?

I am willing to modifying the debian/copyright to take into account the
other contributors, but I could not obtain the year(s) for the
contribution of Aleksandar Simic (no public commit or message to mailing
list found...) I asked upstream to update the copyright notice in the
LICENSE file, and I am waiting for their answer.

Hm. The fact that this file is not present in the upstream tarball we
are using is a problem, then. If this file is present, we can assume
that whatever is written in it is valid.

The reason why came up with my original suggestion in the first place
was because I didn't found a proper copyright notice.

As far as we are concerned, just requiring a proper copyright notice
(i.e. the LICENSE file) should be enough.

Ok, then. I psuhed to the repository a git snapshot containing the
LICENSE file, and left the debian/copyright as it was, in agreement with
the LICENSE file.

In the mean time, upstream released a new gem, with a LICENSE file,
where the two other contributors are listed are copyright holders. The
version in the repository has been update accordingly.

Best wishes,

Cédric
