I need a code snippet for reading the mainboard uuid in c (in Windows XP and Windows Vista if there is a difference, else just for Windows).

It doesn't access the "UUID" (which I guess would be the motherboard's serial number) directly, but it should be possible to get there... .
This MSDN example shows how to use Windows Management Instrumentation APIs to read information about the local computer .

According to the spec the board has 6 SATA and 1 PATA (IDE) connection (so you can have 2 IDE devices) so it depends on how you connect your ... .
Just use the next two.
The board has 6 SATA-Connector (at least the images from Google are telling me this) .

Soon we will receive a 2-CPU mainboard with 2 Quad-Core Xeons on it. We have also a GNU system with Linux kernel (preconfigured). Currently, this Linux runs on a multi-core 1-CPU (Quad Core).

Yes it will work...but I have to ask the question...why would you do this?
A single CPU is just a special case of multiple CPUs, so the same code will work just fine. .

It is not entirely impossible to fix a 'broken' mainboard (provided you have appropriate diagnostic and soldering tools and replacement parts), it is much easier to replace the entire mainboard motherboards seem to run $300 and up, less....

Hi,
I'm installing a new mainboard into our Valuejet 1604. Once powered up, I get a blank LCD screen and the power and data lights on solid. I am guessing I need to load firmware and subcontroller files onto the board?
Does the board have an IP address...

The mainboard has from the old board so you can install ....
You will need a program like Mutoh Maintenace Engineer (MEA) or Mutoh Service Assistance (MSA) to be able to do this .
You need to install the mainboard and sub-controller firmware.
