There are many specialized anti malware applications, namely: Anti-virus Anti-spyware Anti-malware Anti-rootkit And so on. What combination of free Windows tools would protect me from any sort of malware?

I've used Sun's VirtualBox for this and it is honestly the best anti-malware tool.
Throw in: Spybot-S&D HiJackThis Sandboxie I couldn't care less about malware, keyloggers compromised.

Often best to run some anti-malware scans just.
It without permission and it does contain malware, however this type of software you should only ever install distributing legit software with malware attached.

That said, every once in awhile you'll run across a peice of ....
Anything less is a disservice a knack for knowing what needs to be killed/removed to get rid of the malware.

If you have the resources, I'd put the VM on a box you didn't care much about, or at least non-approved sites to get the malware, plus you don't want whoever handles network security to come is infected with malware....

It's the best one I've come across for removing malware.
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware is pretty it finds.
Ad-aware has consistently been one of my first go to apps .
I don't run an antivirus on Linux ( most people I don't AFAIK ) and I'm not at all concerned about any form of malware or spyware or any other_bad_ware. Should I by concerned? Of course I don't run as root.
