With Music Man basses, there isn't a bass that they make that I don't like the Sterling is probably my second favorite Music Man too so really I'm kind of torn which one to choose.
Being built right now.

Does anybody have any recommendations on strings for a 1979 vintage Music Man Stingray bass? I generally use flatwounds. I just installed Rotosound 77 Jazz flatwounds and I'm not crazy for the tone - a bit too much metallic sounding for me.
Also, how ...

Leo used GHS strings with Brite-Flats and some with Boomers... .
Generally I've always been happy with the tone of EB Slinkies on their Music Man basses, just purposely be matched to Music Man Bass because of the company connection.

Besides Bass Central, is there a decent Music Man dealer out there, that is willing to deal a little? I only have a GC in my area as a dealer, their prices are fixed, and their colors are limited!

With all the loopers and available studio technology I have yet to hear any solo musician create songs on the level of a band or at-least two man co-op. why is that? is it a jack of all trades thing or is there something intrinsic in group music that ...

Semantics....
He will be able to produce from great solo recordings .. .
One man will NEVER be able to sound quite like a band.
It the problem with the one man band thing lies in trying to do too much and going too far out of your comfort zone.
