Cold start from Loj campground, -18 on thermo at HPIC. Departed 5:30am from site #7 via the "old marcy dam" trail.
GREAT trail conditions the entire day... thanks to all who went ahead of us in the preceeding days and weeks.

A friend and I are planning Gray-Skylight-Marcy for this coming Saturday. And I realize conditions may change this week with the expected precip/warmup/cool down. But I was wondering how much snow/ice there was above treeline on Marcy this past weekend...

Near treeline there were patches of ice.
Trail (TR coming soon), but to summarize; 6-8" fresh powder, waist deep+ drifts above and below Phelps trail junction, trees encased in 6+ inches of ice .
Was up there yesterday from the Van Ho.
