My MIDLet calls videoControl.getSnapshot(null) to capture photo. On Nokia N95, it takes almost 2-3 seconds for getSnapshot to return. Is there any way to speed it up?

when i go to "Gallery" then to "Images & Videos" my phone takes a full 19 seconds to open and display the photos. is this normal? i only have 48 pictures.
also when i record video i get jerky recording and playback. is this also normal?
