What can a mechanical engineer do in the field of quantum mechanics?
Quantum mechanics isn't really a "field" in the sense that people still do research in it. Perhaps some analytic solutions of the Schrodinger equation haven't been found yet, and some other details, but for the most part, it's all figured out. Quantum field theory, on the other hand, is still a vast area of research, and probably will be for a very long time.

Anyone own a mechanical keyboard?
I have a really old IBM one I've kept since one of my first PCs. It's built like a tank, it must weight 2kg at least, the bottom is a solid piece of steel lol. I love it, but I've stopped using it a couple of years ago. It's way too noisy because of the springs, it hurts my wrists because the keys are so high and it takes too much force depressing them.
I've found I love flat scissor keyboards like the ones used on laptops. They're silent and they're way easier to type on imo. I found I type faster too because of the smaller depth of the keys.

A good mechanical keyless door lock with lever?
They're all the same locks produced by the now defunct Digital Systems, just re-branded. Jaako, could you elaborate what you mean by easily decoded? Is this from outside the lock or with the lock in your hands?

The consensus is the BB7 is the best mechanical disc brake. Possibly even the only choice when it comes to mechanicals.

What's so good about Chinese mechanical watches?
Yes, I'm anxious to delve more into the quality issue. Generally, the Chinese like to cut corners, there is a certain kind of genius in that but the flip side is that you dont always get that outstanding quality . But the Chinese have surprised me in other ways with excellent work so I'm excited about learning more about how good their watch making is.
