You can go into Mail and "sign out" of Messenger I think..
If it is in Mail I don't think there is much you can do about it .
Messenger is sitting.

Whenever I receive a file in Windows LIVE Messenger ,
the files tend to hang for about a minute once complete (100%).
Details about my setup:
Windows 7 , Live Messenger Build 14
AVG Antivirus 9
Anyone have a solution to this?

Indeed, I have it logged into two Windows Live Messenger accounts Messenger, and if your buddies have multiple accounts (Yahoo and MSN) you can group those buddies together.

Is there a way to export (or grab from disk) all the custom emotions set up on a Microsoft Messenger profile? Or better yet, is there a way of sharing them between multiple computers so that wherever I log on to Messenger I have the same custom emoticons...

It is free and can do what you want!
There's an app called ConCon which is designed to export all your emoticons, I've used it successfully, its pretty simple but effective .
Use this program - MSN Backup.
