Perhaps you could....
Or waste time (and over rev) if pushed too slow .
It would stall if you pushed too fast.
Are big factors on a chainsaw powered mill.
For speed thru a log with a chainsaw mill?
I know the type of wood & it's dryness, etc.

Big problem with a lot of vertical heads is you end up with SFA daylight under the spindle by the time you add a vice and a tool holder..

40cc Husqvarna 142 Milling w/ Homemade Mini-Mill Work's pretty good for a 40cc saw. It's no production mill but to cut the occasional beam it fits the bill.

I have seen some guys that took a mill like this and CNC'd it on a pretty low the general idea is the bigger and heavier....
It's not a heavy duty machine, but most knifemaking mill jobs are not too demanding on your life a lot easier.

5) add extra handles to the mill or wrap handle on the saw so your arms are not spread apart....
3 and sharpen or change chains often.
You should not have to bend over significantly or mill on your knees.
In as standing a position as possible.
