This is a general SDK and it lacks manufacturer's specific libraries .
WTK can be installed in Linux.
You can always give windows a try on a VM if you are keen and the sdk is restrictive .

There was no way Apple could "win".
The previous case Motorola won, is, asserted by Apple, FRAND encumbered IP.
As stated not a FRAND related issue, but is considered by Motorola.
This is a different case.
