You might look at how DosEMU....
The kernel cannot function at all in real mode, nor can bios calls be (sensibly) made, so you wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.
You do not.
The ELKS Linux port can do real mode, but its nowhere near 2.6.
I have a few questions on the user-mode and supervisor-mode on Unix-like machines. What is the difference between user-mode and supervisor-mode? I know that the user processes cannot access all memory and hardware and execute all instructions. Is there...

As for a context switch, this inherently....
User mode to supervisor mode switch is expensive because it is a context switch, and for security purposes the cache to.

I need to force IE8 to display as follows: Browser Mode: Internet Explorer 8 Document Mode: IE8 Standards I have added this tag however it only affects the document mode, not the browser mode. How do I override browser mode to ensure the page is always...

As I understand it, the meta element you've posted tells the browser to use IE8 mode.
Please for the love of god how can I make Emacs stop auto-filling? I use visual-line-mode , I do not want auto fill. I can turn it off with M-x auto-fill-mode RET but in Noweb mode it gets turned back on when I move into a code chunk and back out again...

OK, I worked out a hack that does the trick: (setq auto-fill-mode -1) (setq-default fill-column ) (setq fill-column ) If I can't turn off auto-fill mode, at least I can make it harmless by setting, you should check if you could remove some....
I have a JS script that works on IE8 compatibility mode, FF, Chrome, Opera, but not IE8 standards mode. As I think standards mode is more strict than compatibility mode, maybe there's something wrong with my code. How can I debug? Is there something that...

Hi! I'm moving from vi to emacs and, using viper and vimpulse, it gets pretty annoying when I C-w C-w to a window and cannot get back to the original one with the same command because the other buffer, which could be a help buffer, is not in the Viper...

The syntax for adding the hook to help-mode would look like this: (add-hook 'help-mode-hook '(lambda () (viper-mode t))) Note the hook variable is named with "-hook", and setq doesn't work here because viper-mode is a command....
I'm working with some Objective-C++ code ( .mm files), and I'm curious if it's possible to get emacs to use proper syntax highlighting for both the Objective-C parts and the C++ parts. objc-mode and c++-mode are both major modes (built on top of cc-mode...

Another possibility would be to try out an....
I have not done this myself, but since all those modes are based around cc-mode it seems as though you could get the source code for objc-mode styles and c++-mode and combine them.
I read two MSDN articles on Session state modes in ASP .Net. 1 and 2 . Both articles shows that 'In Process' session state mode is the only mode that supports the Session_OnEnd event. If the session state Mode is StateServer or SQLServer, then the Session...

In all but the InProc mode.
I think that performance is the main issue.
But be aware of the cavaets.
I use hideshow.el in my cc-mode buffers to collapse sections of the file I'm not looking at. It would be nice to be able to do that in an XML doc. I use emacs 22.2.1 and the built-in sgml-mode for xml editing. I haven't gotten hideshow to work with the...

I use it for many.
Special-modes-alist '(sgml-mode "<!--\\|<[^/>]*[^/]>" ;; regexp for start block "-->\\|< this??) sgml-skip-tag-forward nil)) nxml-mode is much faster than other xml editing modes.
