I would be surprised if other lenders decide to follow suit as interest-only mortgages provide a proportion of their ISA on a new car).

What is needed to qualify for offset mortgages? Are the LTV's (and income multipliers) similar to other residential mortgages?

AFAIK at least 40pc of mortgages outstanding against UK domestic property are interest only, with nary a repayment vehicle in sight.
Santander is now insisting that prospective home owners need at least 50% down if they want an interest-only mortgage....

In 1998 mortgages were typically 3 times main income plus one times second.
Average wage was £17k, count £9k for second income = 3 x £17k plus 1 x £9k = £60k
The average house was £60k.
