However, you will have to append the .mp3 yourself....
If you happen to be using Linux you can always use "split --bytes=1M --numeric-suffixes largefile.mp3 smallfile" .
MP3DirectCut is also good tool for windows.
AudioBookCutter is probably what you will like.

I have a ton of MP3s, but their ID tags are not filled in. Going in manually to populate them is simply too much work.
I was wondering if there is a way to populate them automatically. Perhaps by feeding the MP3s to Shazam or Midori or something like....

I'm using those two programs for all my tagging needs, MP3tag is my first choice, EasyTAG for its support for FLAC/APE .

For MP3s at least, it isn't just one ID3 tag arbitrary MP3s and tag them as ....
I just dug into the iTunes as podcasts.
Podcast are handled differently than Mp3s.
With how podcasts are synced.

Its tag editor has 5 custom fields which are straight text fields .
Until then, you can try Media Monkey.

When I use iTunes to create Mp3 files from songs I've bought, iTunes also adds them to my library and I got them twice. How can I prevent iTunes from adding converted Mp3s to the library in the first place?

Do you want to keep the original, or the new file in iTunes? You can create smart playlists to help you collect... .
You might want to use a different app, like Quicktime or AudialHub to do the conversion instead .
As far as I know, there is no way to do this .
