Another thing you can do is go to your keyboard settings .
Usually multimedia keyboards require drivers or have an external software package that is required for the multimedia keys to work properly.

You can easily mod an older PC to be a multimedia machine by adding these capabilities.
Generally, a multimedia PC (nowadays) includes the ability to output video in HD (1920x1080 capabilities).

Using a Linux machine hooked up to an HDTV works great as a couch web browsing, media playing system (Ubuntu and their derivatives can play almost any video/audio file I can throw at it) .
I use Mythbuntu for this and have found it copes very well .

Amazon S3 is a standard answer, but Rackspace....
You'll need to read up on their integration docs, or use something like s3sync to transfer your files, but it gives you the storage option, without hurting the pocket too much to start with .
