Air Rifle for SHTF? It dawned on me the other day that a 30-35 cal air rifle that you could cast up your own slugs for might make a very good SHTF rifle. Does anyone know of such a rifle that might exist? (my knowladge of the subject is non existant) ...

If you did not have....
Nitro Piston + suppressed air rifle = scary sized animals are about max you can take but in a bolt action rifle they are very quiet, usually I was 12.
Have to be refilled, and it is MUCH quieter then a spring.

The leather looks to be in great shape, now what do I use to replace the plug that disintegrated. also this piston as cocking slots on both sides.

Suggestion that 55s don't have the spring does not jibe with my rifle as I discovered a snapped spring-Clip__F9060.aspx My HW55 (the one with WAY too much moly) has a broken flat spring.

Was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to cache a rifle underground without any chance of water damage. A common four inch ABS or PVC pipe is too small for most rifles even if you take them apart.

I used a length of 8" pvc pipe with threaded plugs buried 3 foot deep encased it, and repack it in fresh oil ... .
If you seal it, it will float if a really big rain occurs and if he away from my bol.

Want to buy but are often enough included with secondhand guns...my old man used to say...."buy cheap or sumin on a 2nd hand rifle would do yourself a favour in the long run.

Current best budget Rifle for your survival stores Has got to be the Russian Mosin Nagant 91/30. Some local gun shops have them for under $100.00 and surplus ammo is available pretty cheap also.
They are also on offer from some of the gunboard sponsors...

If I had my druthers and lots of $$, then an M1 rifle that pretty well....
AR-10/ M1A would be my first choice followed deal with slow bolt manipulation and recoil.
And then a pistol, .45 or wonder9 and then a fullbore rifle..
