I am thinking of visiting Myrtle Beach area this summer with my husband and kids and was wondering what the difference is between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. Can anyone suggest a medium size beach front family hotel/resort? Thanks.

The resort is 32 acres gated with private security, volleyball, beach bar, gaemrooms, etc .

I would advoid anywhere close to downtown Myrtle from....
Barefoot Landing up in North Myrtle is well worth going to.
Found in my 30 years of traveling to Myrtle Beach virus North Myrtle is that there will be crowds south, also.

You can go to Beaufort , there will not be crowds like Myrtle Beach.
Highways and also some local roads are clogged with traffic the likes of which even Myrtle Beach in July does not have.

OnHoliday13, Between Myrtle and North Myrtle, you are likely to find that North Myrtle is less commercial and more family-friendly.

Hi Jason, yes it will get colder than the 60's, January may have days that are high 60's also may have days that the temp does not go above 40, it's a roll of the dice and one that I would wait a few months for .

Every season is a good time to be in Myrtle.
Of course it's a good idea, it's always a good idea to come to Myrtle Beach :) Weather as you We always go down in February for a Valentine's getaway.
