How to be a good photographer?
I wouldn't say try to mimic others, but, find photographers whose work you admire, and try to understand the concepts behind what makes that photo a good one. It's a probably a good place to start and you'll become aware of what to look out for when taking your own photos.

New Photographer needing to build their portfolio?
Most photogs run mini-session specials plus more than a few offer them anytime. But I allow my clients to book as OFTEN as they like.

I need information about Photographers that specialise in winter photos?
For studioart class in school, I have to chose a them and get inspiration about that theme. This information includes, two photographers who specialise in this theme, music lyrics about the theme, film clips, poems ETC...
I can find everything, except the two photographers. Are there any websites or anything that have a list of famous photographers I can look at?

Why do beginning photographers think they need a professional camera?
I think to a lot of beginners DSLR is synonymous with "professional" so they consider it as such. It's a fair assessment considering a DSLR is far more capable than a point and shoot. Obviously you and I both know it takes a lot of hard work, commitment, and discipline to become a pro and one doesn't magically become one upon picking up a DSLR. I'm working on becoming a pro but I have a ways to go still.
A beginner can stick their DSLR on auto but until they can put that bad boy on manual, aperture priority, or shutter priority and know what they're doing it's just luck when they get a few good shots. Those who are down to earth and willing to learn I have respect for. The big headed ones who think they can go pro within a year are delusional and usually have to be kicked down a few notches by the real world.

Does better equipment make you a better photographer?
Better equipment does allow you to take better photos but it does not necessarily make you a better photographer. It is not as obvious for landscapes but a fast tele lens for low light sports, a good macro lens with a nice flash setup for close-ups, a long lens for birds and wildlife, etc can be very beneficial.
