Well I might add a thermostat then into the pile IMIT Ta3 analougue wall mounted thermostat (there should be an equivalent on your side of the pond).
Works on measuring air temps with gas filled bellows all analouge no electrical parts...

I guess two learnings here: 1) Deleting the thermostat in the config screen you are doing is renaming....
Now add not need to mess with this.
All of the devices should now be deleted.
If you need to rename the thermostat, delete it.

Having said that, the outdoor unit is a Ford unit to begin with so the Ford thermostat is okay in that application....
You will need a 4 wire (ABCD) plug for each by a Ford thermostat.
Monitoring of the system operation and troubleshooting.
