"Safer from viruses?"
How many viruses have attacked Windows Mobile PDAs and phones to date?
Other than nebulous references to "the growing threat" (from sites
selling WinMo A/V software!) I've only found references to ONE virus that
can infect Windows Mobile devices; a "proof-of-concept" virus
commissioned by an A/V software company! (And therefore never "released
into the wild," obviously.)
I'm not saying one should never choose a Blackberry over a WM device, but
it being "safer from virues" isn't a reason to choose one! (A proof-of-
concept Trojan that used Blackberries to attack corporate networks was
developed in 2006, BTW!)
From http://www.virusbtn.com ("Virus Bulletin," a computing security website):
"The vast majority of currently existing malware for mobile devices
(PDAs, smart phones, etc.) is for mobile phones running the Symbian S60
R2 operating system - with just some proof-of-concept malicious programs
existing for the J2ME, PalmOS and Windows Mobile 2003 environments. The
paper examines the security features introduced in the newer versions of
the mobile operating systems - Symbian R3, Windows Mobile 6.0, J2ME - and
explains why they are much less vulnerable to self-propagating code.
While we stop short of claiming that these environments are virus-proof,
we maintain that viruses are unlikely to become a huge problem for them."

That is excellent advice! The OP's original question was akin to asking
which vehicle is "best"- motorcycle, mini-van or criuse ship... ;-)

I had a moto q and conceptually its great, but in reality it sucks. I
traded it (since sprint offers a 30 day return) for a treo 755 and i'm
pretty happy with it. I loved the windows on the q, but the battery lasted
less than 2 hours of use (whether on calls or web or whatever) and even less
with bluetooth enabled (which i used only in the car with a gps). So far,
the treo has been fine. The treo also seems to get more bars in more
paces. I put sling on both and it works WAY better on the treo. On the
Q, no matter what i did with the settings, any call rcvd while watching
sling went to voice mail. The treo will interrupt viewing when a new call
comes in.
Thats my thoughts so far on those 2 devices.
I have a Plaxo sig too, but i turn it off when I post because its pretty
annoying.

You can find out more about the Slingbox at:
http://us.slingmedia.com
With the right equipment at home, it basically lets you watch TV on your
Pocket PC Phone or what you call a PDA.

I saw that post and that was why I posted:
"I want to hear more about your 6700. "

Ok, since you are new to this, I'll let you in on something I found:
"How to Tell If Your Device is a Smartphone or Pocket PC Phone"
at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/OSversions.mspx
"I've been very happy with this device, but I don't know too many
differences between the Trio and the other PDAs that are out there. I've

Sounds like you did OK for the price. I'd wait. Who knows, maybe in 6
months they will have an even neater phone than the Mogul. Besides, the
Mogul is really for left handers because when the keyboard slides out, you
have the button on your left hand.

They call it "Sign in" and all it takes is a valid e-mail address.
You can experiment with how to view the page. You might want to view the
page as a "Desktop" since I think that works best for me.
One more thing. If you post with Google groups you will be posting in
"Plain Text" so nobody can bitch about your HTML.
Oh, yeah, talking about HTML. Windows Mobile 6 handles HTML e-mail better
than Windows Mobile 5.

Thank you! I was just about to post the same thing. Not only do I not "want"
a signature like that, I don't want to see anyone else's either. Talk about
annoying...

Because you are not computer literate we should put up with your HTML
crap on a text only usenet group? That really not very neighborly,
Loreal Marie.
Unfortunately, your cavalier attitude might piss off some folks who
happen to be downloading these messages on a dial-up network and have to
pay for the privilege.
Maybe that's to be expected from someone who would jump on the Plaxo
bandwagon.
Just think, though, how would you like it if everyone just went to:
http://messaging.sprintpcs.com/textmessaging/compose
and sent you a text message at 518-330-5188.
Not a pretty picture is it?

Nothing quite like having a phone that runs hot enough to leave burn
marks, but has a microsoft operating system to make it dog slow.
Have it corrupt itself at least once a week and let trojans make international
calls and you have a perfect windows pdaphone.

My 200MHz T-Mo MDA can certainly get bogged down if I run too many
programs simultaneously and run out of memory, but I'd hardly call it
"dog slow."

Find ONE reference to such a trojan and come back. We won't be seeing
you anytime soon.
As I just posted in this thread, there's ONE proof-of-concept virus that
runs on WinMo, dating back to 2004.

First, if you have any info about a virus infecting a Pocket PC I would like
see the link to it myself. I'm sure it could happen if someone is not
careful but I'd still like to see more about it.
You could have just stated: To change the setting used to post in OE start
with the "Outlook Express" Window then go Tools->Options->Send->New Sending
Format and then use the button that says "Plain Text." That is the way it
is set on mine.
