A 'puter question please. Lately when I'm trying to post my blog I get a
"fatal script error' notice. So I went to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced,
and found the 'Disable script debugging, Internet Explorer' box...also
'Disable script debugging, Other'. Should they be checked or unchecked?

Also - what do you think about using something like RegCure or ErrorFix? I
DL RegCure, which found over 2,000 errors...but sure they did, they want me
to pay $40 for the entire fix.

Thank you for any help.

Unless you want a lot of unnecessary messages, disable the script debugging.

I have never used a registry cleaner, they can be very dangerous. If they
delete a necessary entry your computer won't boot up.

Not Joan, but I think she would endorse this.

I'm not Joan either, but would certainly agree completely with Bobbie. Open
Office does everything for me that MS Office does for other people, and as
Bobbie says, it's free.

Yes, you beat me but that's what I would recommend. AbiWord is another good
one. I have a copy of Word 97 that came with my second computer that I am
still using. I only need it to print out 4 x 6 recipe cards, an occasional
business letter and envelopes.

I haven't had Word since my first, WIN3.1. Thanks everyone for these
tips!

I thought it right to wait for the lovely Joan to reply first - as you asked
for her opinion. I would strongly agree with her comment about registry
cleaners - I have used them over the years, and they *always* cause
problems. The only way to use one is to ask it to analyse your registry and
then use your own expertise to determine if the suggestions are sensible or
not.

The big risk is that they typically delete references which point to
non-existent files. However, Windows requires references to non-existent
files so that it knows where to put things (like temporary files), which
currently do not exist. Hence removing those references causes problems.

Take care,

You needn't wait for me, sometimes I get behind on messages (like right now)
and don't answer quickly. I have gotten hooked on Twitter and can't keep up
with my daily rounds.

Well, political junkie that I am, I am following some political types, White
House Correspondents, bloggers, etc. Lots of tweets have links that I then
go and read.

I have friends obsessed with Twitter. They try to entice me to join...I just
say no thank you very much, there are already too many ways for my solitude
to be bothered without constant intrusive chatter.

Of course, a decade or so ago when friends tried to entice me to get a
computer and go online to meet people, I said if I wanted to talk to
strangers I'd go down to the Greyhound bus station.....
