Opinions on: Deluxe 8 String Solid Mahogany Dolphin Ukulele

On Sat, 16 May 2009 03:14:51 -0700 (PDT), ferretmummy <...@yahoo.co.uk

Hi everyone,

Opinions/experiences please.

I'm looking to upgrade to a 6 or 8 string tenor and this is one that
is available to the UK. Has anyone got any experiences with this
particular "brand" (I can't find out what it is). Are they set up
well with good tone or are they just expensive cheap rubbish?
Obviously I'd prefer to find out before importing one.

Please see:

I am undecided whether I want to go for 6 or 8 string, but I want more
volume and range of notes in a chord, and with a tenor length scale
would have more neck to capo. A pickup would be good too (and I
realise this one hasn't got that.)

I learnt to use gCEA but if a song has lots of E's and B's I prefer to
change to my other uke tuned to aDF#B for easier fingering/mentally
'capo 2', but if I don't need to keep swapping instruments in the
middle of a service then so much the better. :o)

Anyway, any thoughts on this one?

Paula

Sorry, can't help you with this one, but I wanted you to know there are
still some people out here!

Ah, that's alright - maybe I'll give this particular one a miss unless
I actually have an opportunity to try one. Any thoughts on the 6 or 8
string dilemma? I only play chords and if I play in public it's at
church. I definitely intend to get one with a pickup though - I can't
hear myself over drumkits/bass/electric guitars/singers so I doubt
anyone else could!

I'm not enough of a veteran player to comment on that. Have you tried the
other ukulele forum at http://uketalk.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/index.php ? It
seems that some of the activity from this group has moved over there.
