I agree with you for once, kooker... the conservative Rediopcians led
by Paliban probably paid her a bribe to get her out of the race,
knowing Hoffman stood absolutely no chance as long as she remained in
to split the nutbag vote. As long as she stayed in, Owens was a shoo-
in, but once the Paliban crowd bribed her out of the race, they might
come close -- even though it should have been a GOP runaway in that
district if only Paliban had stayed out of it and backed Scozzafava.
After all, only a year ago the Republican took 65 percent of the vote
in that district.
I bet Owens was worried when she pulled out, knowing it would possibly
cost him the victory,
But voters, even GOP leaning ones, now know how utterly stupid and
traitorous the extreme right wing of the redopican party really is and
will never elect any of them.
But I found your speculation that the far-rightards paid her to get
out of the race to be very plausible.
