Good idea, Debbie.
I always liked these
I just have to say, first, that I really like the idea of the old sheet
possibly being used for a toy hammock!
I don't really have many sheets, but I was given a small bag of crib sheets
when I picked up a change table for a friend the other day. I find I have
plenty of crib sheets, so maybe I could spare one or two for this idea. I've
never thought of that, but boy do I think it's a good and creative idea!
Plus, with a crib sheet, they tend to be smaller and more child/baby themed,
which would go good in DDs' room.
Now, back on subject...
4. Zap the mess of cords. I'm thinking of my computer area where all the
cords and cables seem to be a big mess. With cords, I find, all over the
place, I've noticed things get caught in them. Cords and cables strung
along the wall on the floor make nice hiding places for little pieces of
garbage, very small toys and other random things. Makes it difficult to do
a vacuum or sweep job wall to wall with cords. I think I might take a
little bit of time and deal with the cord/cable messes!
5. Zymurgy in the fridge... I had an issue a number of years back involving
some apple juice. There was just a little left in the box of apple juice,
so I figured I'd just save a glass and finish the juice off right from the
box. Well, it had gone bad. It was horrible, and it had started to ferment
and taste like rotting beer, almost. Check your juices that are opened and
in the fridge ;) It was real bad and a big shock to drink apple juice gone
real bad LOL
6. Zoom around the house with a small box and yank out all the stuff that
doesn't belong in whatever room. This could be stray combs in the living
room, finished books to go back on the book shelf and get off the end table,
toys in the hallway or tools left on the TV stand.
I can't think of anything else that I could try and make sense of... Clearly
I was struggling right from the start with the Z words! LOL

Good idea! Another problem with cords being around is puppies like to chew
them. Do you know how expensive a new laptop power cord costs??? I have
had 2 such cords in the past 6 months (DGD left her laptop lying around).
Good job I love DGD and the 2 little beasties that call themselves cute
pups!
I have an unpleasant odor in my fridge that has been there since I left a
chicken in the fridge and went away for several days. I cleaned it all out,
and every now and then the smell disappears. However, it always returns...
any idea on how to get rid of it for good?
Scary job but I will do it.. scratching head and wondering where I can get a
big enough box for the job! Actually shouldn't be too bad as I have just
put away the Christmas decorations and did a good clearing out at that time
as I set my house to normalcy.
Yeah, I struggled with it too, but it made it fun, in an otherwise humdrum
day to try to work out some chores.

Put an open dish of white vinegar in the fridge; yes, it will smell like
vinegar, but it will neutralize the nasty smell. after a couple of days, you
can take the dish out. The smell of vinegar will disappear after a couple of
days once you've taken the dish out, too (although I actually like the smell
of vinegar myself).

Might want to look under the vegetable bins to see if there is any chicken
liquid under them. The fridge door is so close to the oven it won't swing
wide enough to get the right hand bin out, a real pain, so I stuff paper
towels under there from time to time to get junk out, mostly dried lettuce
leaves.
I organi"Z"ed my studio art room yesterday... all the books sorted and junk
sorted in baskets. I can see my floor and the table top at the same time...
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... Of course didn't get much else done so have to do
laundry today, (no clean socks) etc. And it was volunteer day, so that took
a time chunk. Had to dig out the Ice from the garage door.. hate that.
If this is global warming.. why is it so darn cold!!! - Molly (at 14
degrees)

I can't stand the cord issue I have... I don't have dogs, and the cat cares
about cords as much as it cares about anything else, but they're still a
pain. Messy cords not only look kind of bad, but they can be dangerous
(tripping, animals chewing, you name it)
I'm just reading through this book I have and what it says about odors in
the fridge is...
"To deodorize refrigerators, leave a bowl filled with clean clay cat litter
or charcoal on the shelf to absorb odors. This is particularly helpful in
refrigerators that are going to be shut off or moved. Make sure you leave
the door partially open at all times to allow air circulation, and put some
litter or charcoal in an old nylon stocking and tie the top shut. Lay this
in the refrigerator and it will control the odors. For strong odors,
nothing works better than dry, fresh coffee grounds. Put them in a bowl and
leave in refrigerator until odor disappears. This can be used in
conjunction with the cat litter or charcoal very effectively."
Never tried it, but maybe it would help?
I started this... Then gave it a rest. I think my goal with that is just to
fill one small box of stuff that is lost from its home and put it away. One
small box is sure better than no small boxes!
Z is a hard one, but fun. There's a surprisingly fair number of words I can
think of that start with Z, but having them make sense is another
question...

The fumes or juice from the bad chicken could have
gotten absorbed into the insulation of the fridge.
You could try absorbing it with charcoal, baking
soda or newspapers and keep on changing them but
it might not be permanent. DH had a customer
that went off for a few days and something went
wrong with their heat that the fridge couldn't
cope with. Their meat went bad and got into the
insulation and they ended up getting another
fridge, I think their homeowners insurance covered
it except for the deductible or the fridge
warranty might have covered it. I thought DH had
said the bad meat _juice_ got into the
insulation, though, but I don't remember for sure.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Yikes, I hope it isn't permanent! It
doesn't seem to affect anything else in there. I will try Kim's vinegar
hint tonight as I ahve it at the ready and if necessary go to the
charcoal/coffee grounds suggestion of Kim. Before that though I am wiping
under my veggie bins!

I use baking soda. Use it sort of like scouring cleanser--it won't hurt the
finish of the fridge. Then leave an opened box in the fridge to absorb any
future odors.
I used this after Hurricane Ike. Our power was off for a total of 7.5 days.
About the third day, while I was out raking up debris--I was talking with
the neighbors and the fridges came up in conversation. I was advised to get
that stuff in the trash NOW. So I did--and the fridge and freezer smelled
like something had died in there. I had done a big grocery shop shortly
before Ike came. I tossed hundreds of dollars worth of food. Since the power
was still off after I cleaned the fridge, I left it unplugged, propped the
door open and didn't shut the door and plug it back in until that magical
day when the light suddenly came on.
Brenda
P.S. While we had most everything unplugged or turned off in the house--I
forgot about the washer, dryer and rechargable grass shears that were in the
garage. When the power first came on there was a power surge which killed my
dryer and grass shears and I had to replace them. So be sure to unplug stuff
if your electric is out for any amount of time.
P.P.S. Use baking powder--NOT baking soda.
