I don't want Niedermayer.

Here's why.
I think he's a douchebag. At the age of 33, as one of the premiere players
in his position, he decides he's not even sure if he wants to play the game
any more. He's arrogant enough to say that he's achieved all the things he
wants to achieve and why should he keep playing... Takes half a year off,
fucks around his team, not saying if he's coming back or not. I think he's a
cheap shot artist who doesn't get recognized as one (god only knows why...
perhaps because he's on the same team as Chris Pronger). I don't want this
guy on my team any more than I wanted Messier here.
I'd rather see a Niedermayer-less Canuck team NOT win the cup than have them
win it with this asshole on the roster.
It wouldn't drive me fully away from the team as the Messier/Keenan debacle
did, but in my opinion it'd be nearly as bad, and I sure as shit won't like
it. Lose Ohlund, lose Sundin, do what it takes to get Bouwmeester in here if
you want a quality defenceman (and god knows I do), but please, Gillis,
don't bring in Scott Niedermayer.
Cheers!

You wouldn't want a guy who has won four stanley cups, an olympic gold
medal, a world junior gold, a memorial cup and has been a proven winner on
every single team he has ever played for, and is a BC boy on top of all
that?
I hope Gillis does whatever it takes to bring Neids to the team. He is
EXACTLY what this team needs, and if Nonis had any guts at all, he would
have traded Jovo when he had the chance to make room to sign Neids.
If Gillis is able to pull this off, I'll be cheering every step of the way.
I have a feeling you will be too.

Hold the phone, guy. You can go right ahead and disagree with me, but don't
for one second tell me what I will or won't be doing. I will not cheer if
the Canucks sign Scott Niedermayer. In the NHL there are players that I
consider heroes, and players that I consider villains. Scott Niedermayer is
a villain and I don't want him anywhere near my team. I have no problem with
people disagreeing with me, but don't put words in my mouth. If they get him
will I still cheer for the team? Yes, I already said that. Will I want them
to win a cup? Yes, I will. But winning a Stanley Cup with Scott Niedermayer
on this team will be a HELL of a lot less sweet for me than losing a cup was
with Trevor Linden.

Hmm. Well I'd sure like to see him here. I wasn't too impressed with the
bullshit in Anaheim, but I really don't see him as a cheap shot artist.
He's a BC boy with tons of talent. Sign him up!

Here's his latest...

Anyways, whatever, I'm sure I'm outnumbered on this one... if they sign him
I'll just have to grit my teeth and watch - I know he's a good player, and
I'm sure he'll help the team win, I'd just rather see the team win without
him.

Great post, and I agree with you as to his, what I would call, lack of
character, with what he did to Annaheim.
Before anyone tries to throw in Sundin as comparable, don't even think it.
Sundin was an RFA, Nieds was under contract.
Nieds [ geez I hate using Nieds and Balsy etc, but I always mangle their name
when I try and spell 'em, and I don't want to go look 'em up every time ],
super-screwed Burkie. His bloody procrastinations forced Burke to suspend
him for not reporting to camp [ so he wouldn't carry his cap hit ], go out and
pay big bucks for Schneider and then eventually give away Andy McDonald for
zip to clear cap room for Nieds return.
But now that he is a RFA, I don't think there'd be any ethical issues if he
and Gillis wanted him to play here next year. Messier was a puke who stole
20 mill and headed for the hills. If Nieds, who has won everything and has
nothing to prove to anyone, wanted to finish his career in BC [ perhaps with
his brother ], I'm sure he'd be here for the right reasons, not as a mercenary
or money-grubbing messier-con-artist [ cause there'd be 30 teams he could
pick to play for ], so because he could really fill a Canuck hole.
If that doesn't bring db out of his speedo on some tropical beach he's
tanning on, he must be sloshed out of his skull.
